BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office announced that a Candler man was sentenced for several charges on Monday.
David Mason Smith, 57, was sentenced to an active term of 26 to 41 months after pleading guilty to felony charges of failing to report a new sex offender address, felony larceny and assault causing physical injury to a law enforcement officer.
In court, Smith’s prior convictions for second-degree kidnapping, second-degree sexual offense, indecent liberties, and armed robbery were presented. The judge consolidated the counts into a single term, noting that Smith’s reliance on a wheelchair in court reduced his risk to the public…
