BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WLOS) — Newly released public records show that the Town of Black Mountain issued official approvals for a large second-story deck at Black Mountain Brewing, including a certificate of occupancy certifying compliance with state building and fire codes, years before town inspectors later declared the same structure illegal under state fire-district rules.
The records, produced in response to a public-records request, detail a seven-year trail of permits, inspections and approvals for the brewery’s decks at 131 Broadway St., many of which were signed off by town building officials who are now the subject of a state-level complaint.
The first permit for Black Mountain Brewing’s deck, Permit No. 3621, was issued Aug. 16, 2017, for construction of a 768-square-foot deck, according to town inspection records…
