37K Duke Energy customers in Carolinas lose power in wake of winter storm

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – More than 37,000 Duke Energy customers in the Carolinas were without power due to a winter storm, as of early Monday morning.

The number of customers in the dark came from Duke Energy’s outage map, which showed the vast majority of outages were in the area between Asheville, North Carolina and Greenville, South Carolina.

The number of Duke Energy customers without power decreased to 34,800 by 7 a.m., and down to 33,000 by 9 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 26…
