BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) – The Black Mountain Fire Department reported a propane tank carrying more than 1,000 gallons of fuel crashed in Buncombe County Wednesday afternoon.
Officials said a propane tank overturned on Craven Hill Circle early Wednesday afternoon. Multiple fire agencies responded and put a 200-yard safety perimeter in place. Residents within the area were temporarily evacuated while crews attempted to stabilize and remove the overturned vehicle.
The Black Mountain Fire Department said the driver was not injured in the incident.
“There were no injuries, and our priority from the start was public safety,” said Black Mountain Fire Chief John Coffey. “Evacuating the immediate area allowed our crews to safely evaluate and manage the scene, and begin operations without additional risk to the community, had a serious issue been present such as gas leakage. Thankfully, there were no public safety concerns that occurred from this incident.”…
