BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A fast-moving storm system will bring rain showers that may change to snow showers late Wednesday into Thursday.
This weather event will impact a much smaller part of western North Carolina than recent winter storms, with much lighter accumulation possibilities.
Temperatures climb back into the 40s on Wednesday, so we’ll see a chance of scattered light rain showers Wednesday afternoon.
As colder air moves in on Wednesday night, it will change over to scattered light snow showers.
Snow showers will be scattered overnight into Thursday morning. The area most likely to see snow and light accumulations will be along and north of Interstate 40. Places like Burnsville over to Boone will have a shot at 1 to 3 inches, with some spots seeing up to 4 inches.
Parts of Buncombe County and Haywood County might see even lighter accumulations, from just a dusting to a few tenths of an inch…
