LAKE LURE, N.C. — The Town of Lake Lure began refilling its namesake lake Thursday, marking the first step toward restoring the water body to full capacity since Hurricane Helene.
The town is working to return the lake to full pond at 990.5 mean sea level. Mayor Carol Pritchett said the progress resulted from collaboration with FEMA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, AshBritt Environmental, Rumbling Bald on Lake Lure and contractors.
