ASHEVILLE – A lawsuit stemming from a shooting at an Asheville-area Airbnb in 2022 may soon serve as a litmus test as to whether the short-term vacation rental giant can be sued in the state of North Carolina.
Asheville resident Marcus Deshon Blair sued Airbnb and a local homeowner in 2025 after he was shot four times at a 2022 party in a short-term vacation rental in West Asheville, near Enka. The shooting left Blair paraplegic, according to court filings.
