Buncombe County man sentenced to at least 7 years for drug trafficking: DA

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — A Buncombe County man will face at least seven years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple drug trafficking and gun charges, officials announced.

On Monday, Feb. 9, Russell Travis Toothman was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to traffic opium or heroin, trafficking methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office confirmed in a press release.

Under North Carolina’s mandatory sentencing guidelines for drug trafficking, Toothman will serve between seven and a half years and 10 years…
