BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — Buncombe County Public Health announced on Feb. 12 that there is a new case of measles in the county, bringing the total number of cases since Jan. 1 to seven.
The new case was reported in an adult, according to a news release. The county said to protect the person’s privacy, no additional identifying information will be released.
Individuals may have been exposed to measles at the following locations during the times listed, the county said in the release:
- Novant Health – GoHealth Urgent Care at 349 New Leicester Highway, Asheville: Noon-3:45 p.m. Feb. 4 (watch for symptoms through Feb. 25)
- MAHEC Family Health Center – Biltmore, 123 Hendersonville Road, Asheville: 2:45-7:30 p.m. Feb. 6 (watch for symptoms through Feb. 27)
The county was also notified of additional measles exposure sites connected to an individual with measles who was not a Buncombe County resident at these sites while infectious:
- The Inn on Biltmore Estate, 1 Antler Hill Road, Asheville: 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. Feb. 3 (watch for symptoms through Feb. 24)
- Goodwill Store, 51 Mills Gap Road, Asheville: 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Feb. 3 (watch for symptoms through Feb. 24)
- Goodwill Store, 86 South Tunnel Road, Asheville: 12:45-3:30 p.m. Feb. 3 (watch for symptoms through Feb. 24)
Public Health officials said in the release that they are actively conducting contact tracing to identify and notify individuals who may have been exposed. Buncombe County Public Health is continuing to monitor for additional measles cases…
