WNC doctor warns of severe burns linked to secondary heating devices

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Local doctors say this winter has taken a hard toll on some patients, with Mission Hospital reporting an uptick in severe burns tied to secondary heating devices used inside homes.

“I don’t think people realize how hot that space heater is,” Dr. Michael Shurr, director of burn surgery at Mission Hospital, said.
