North Carolina man wins $100,000 after buying scratch-off at convenience store

BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Danny Reed, of Fairview, bought a $30 scratch-off and won the first $100,000 prize in a new lottery game, according to an NC Education Lottery news release.

Reed bought his winning 200X The Cash ticket from Kounty Line-Reynolds on Charlotte Highway in Asheville.

He arrived on Tuesday to collect his prize.

After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $72,018.
