Only Hope founder Absher to remain held on $2.2M bond, judge rules

HENDERSONVILLE – Michael Absher, former Henderson County School Board member and founder of a nonprofit serving homeless youth, was denied a lower bond Feb. 26.

He stands accused of more than 20 counts of sex crimes against children.

Absher’s attorney John Pritchard filed a motion Feb. 2 for his $2.2 million bond to be reduced, arguing that it was unfair to set the maximum bond for each charge based solely on the punishment level of those offenses, the Times-News reported earlier this week…
