Councilwoman Young updates Weaverville on coming hospital

At its Feb. 23 meeting, Weaverville Town Council received a detailed progress report on the long-anticipated AdventHealth hospital from Councilwoman Jennifer Young.

Young, a registered nurse, had run for office on a platform that included serving as a liaison between the Town and AdventHealth.

Construction details

Sharing an artist’s rendition of the 28-acre campus, Young said that the first structure would be a 75,000-square-foot, three-story medical office building housing primary care physicians, specialty practices and outpatient services. It is projected to open by the 4th quarter of 2027.

The main hospital will be seven levels, including a basement. The first floor will include emergency services, laboratory facilities and imaging; plans are to provide stroke and neurology care and a cardiac catheterization lab…
