Man facing charges in Carter County following Asheville home invasion, authorities say

CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WCYB) — A man wanted in connection with an armed home invasion investigation Asheville is now facing multiple drug and weapons charges in Northeast Tennessee, according to the Carter County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Austin W. Salyer, 30, on charges of possession of methamphetamine for resale, possession of Schedule II drugs for resale (fentanyl), maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are sold, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon, and being a fugitive from justice for a crime in another state on Monday.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies went to Salyer’s home on Nix Road in Johnson City to take him into custody on a warrant issued by the Asheville Police Department. Salyer was wanted in connection with an armed home invasion that occurred in Asheville on February 27. He was arrested at his residence and initially charged as a fugitive from justice…
