Controlled blasts continue for I-26 connector project, completion set for 2031

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The North Carolina Department of Transportation is continuing work on the Interstate 26 connector project.

Controlled blasts began on Wednesday, March 11, to remove rock near the I-26 interchange area, where the connector project ties into Interstate 40 East.

There will be a total of eight blasts, continuing into next week…
