UNC Asheville Expands Tuition-Free Program to Four Neighboring States

UNC Asheville has widened its Access Asheville financial aid initiative. Students from Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia now qualify, with a $10,000 yearly cap on tuition and fees. North Carolina residents whose families earn $90,000 or less in adjusted gross income already get full tuition and fees eliminated.

The wider reach starts with applicants to the 2025-26 school year.

Qualifying out-of-state students from the four adjacent states will pay no more than $10,000 per year in tuition and fees after federal, state, and institutional grants and scholarships get applied.
