North Carolina NICU Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day with Festive Outfits for Their ‘Little Lucky Charms’

In a display of seasonal cheer designed to offer a sense of normalcy during high-stakes medical stays, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Mission Hospital celebrated St. Patrick’s Day on Tuesday by transforming its youngest patients into “tiniest lucky charms.”

The initiative, a collaboration between HCA Healthcare’s Mission Hospital and regional support organizations, provided custom festive attire for premature infants, aiming to alleviate the emotional strain on families navigating extendedhospitalizations.

A Collaborative Effort for Patient Care

The celebration was made possible through a partnership with Preemies of the Carolinas, a nonprofit organization that donated handcrafted hats, onesies, and shamrock-themed accessories. Coordination on the ground was managed by the Mission Children’s WNC Family Support Network alongside the hospital’s specialized NICU clinical teams.
