Dennis Tyrone Garnett Jr. was sentenced to 5-7 years in prison on March 18, for a violent kidnapping and domestic assault that began at an Asheville motel and ended in a highway rescue.
The charges stem from an incident on Dec. 2, 2025. Asheville police responded to a domestic violence call at 49 Tunnel Road after 911 dispatchers heard Garnett threatening and physically assaulting the victim.
