Maggie Valley considers first property tax hike since 2018

MAGGIE VALLEY, N.C. (WLOS) — Property taxes in Maggie Valley could increase next year.

The tax rate would increase to two cents per $100 property value. The increase is the first for the town since 2018.

Officials say, despite the increase, the town still has the lowest tax rate in Haywood County.

“You know, if we can get the evaluation completed in next year, which was supposed to have happened two years ago, we may do what we did back in 2018. We went up and then a year later we went down,” said Maggie Valley Mayor Mike Eveland…
