Corner Kitchen wins SBA’s Phoenix Award for post-Helene comeback

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Corner Kitchen has been recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for its comeback in the wake of Helene.

The well-known restaurant, located in Asheville’s Biltmore Village, won the SBA’s 2026 Phoenix Award for Disaster Recovery. The award recognizes the strength and resiliency of a small business in the aftermath of a disaster.

Corner Kitchen was one of many businesses hit hard by devastating flooding during Helene. The SBA said flooding from the September 2024 storm destroyed the restaurant’s kitchen equipment, inventory and nearby infrastructure, forcing it to close for months…
