The school year might be over, but for one Greene County High School student, he is putting his small engine skills to the test in Atlanta, Georgia.
Greene County Sophomore Yaakov Gehling earned second place in the Power Equipment Technology category at the State Leadership and Skills Contest in March for SkillsUSA. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that because he was second place, he didn’t automatically qualify for the national competition, until he found out that the first place student wasn’t able to go.
Gehling states that he chose Power Equipment Technology because it deals mainly with small engines and the different components of it, which he grew up with in his family. Gehling talks about the life skills he has gained only being in the club for one year…
