One person arrested following large fentanyl bust in Georgia

GEORGIA — A month-long narcotics investigation led to the seizure of more than 25 pounds of suspected fentanyl and the arrest of a suspected drug trafficker during a traffic stop in Cobb County, authorities said.

According to the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office, agents with the Marietta/Cobb/Smyrna Narcotics Unit stopped a vehicle on June 8 as part of an ongoing investigation. During the stop, a K-9 officer alerted to the vehicle, prompting a search.

Investigators said the search uncovered approximately 11.43 kilograms, or more than 25 pounds, of suspected fentanyl. Authorities also recovered a firearm from the vehicle…
