A routine traffic stop in Atlanta turned into the end of a four-year FBI manhunt after officers pulled over a Chevrolet Equinox for an expired tag and later discovered the driver was a federal fugitive wanted in connection with a homicide, according to retired Police Sergeant Christopher Curtis.
In a video on his Sergeant Curtis YouTube channel, Curtis said the March 8, 2025 stop began like many others, with officers checking a vehicle tag and asking the driver for identification. But the stop quickly changed when the driver gave a name that would not come back in the system, then ran from officers after they tried to detain him.
“In policing, every car stop is an unknown,” Curtis said. “And sometimes those unknowns can be in the form of a driver who gives you a fake name and then decides to run.”…
