A pre-dawn traffic stop spiraled into a fatal crash Sunday when a driver fleeing a Georgia State Patrol trooper on Interstate 75 lost control while trying to get back onto the highway, according to authorities.
Troopers say the incident began around 6:45 a.m. on I-75 southbound near Jonesboro Road, when a Georgia State Patrol trooper attempted to pull over a Chrysler 300. The driver took off, and the pursuit continued into Henry County. The motorist exited at Eagles Landing Parkway, then attempted to re-enter the I-75 southbound entrance ramp, lost control and crashed. The vehicle slammed into a guardrail, struck a traffic signal control panel and overturned.
Troopers performed life-saving measures at the scene until paramedics arrived, but the driver was later pronounced dead, officials said.
