Smyrna man accused of grabbing officer’s gun during Best Buy shoplifting arrest

Myles Allen Bradley Virgile, 24, of Smyrna, was stopped by police for shoplifting at Best Buy, 2460 Cobb Parkway S., Smyrna, on Aug. 10 at 10:48 a.m., according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Police Department.

Police returned a warrant through the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office for theft by shoplifting. Once other officers arrived on the scene, Virgile attempted to flee out of the building. An officer stopped him from fleeing and a physical altercation ensued. Virgile pushed the officer against the glass sliding doors and the anti-theft sensors, grabbed the officer’s handgun and attempted to rip it from the belt while going to the ground. The officer suffered bruising to his upper right arm due to the altercation, according to the warrant.

Virgile is charged with obstruction felony. He was arrested on Aug. 10 at 11:33 a.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records…
