Influential Atlanta nightclub owner James ‘Mr. V’ Virgil dies at 85

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Atlanta nightlife entrepreneur James “Mr. V” Virgil has died at the age of 85.

Virgil was born in Mississippi and moved to Chicago before landing in Atlanta. He opened Mr. V’s Figure 8 in 1978 and became a fixture in Atlanta’s nightclub scene. The club’s influence expanded beyond Atlanta thanks to commercials that aired on TBS during the club’s run in the 1980s.

After leaving the nightclub business, Virgil pivoted and opened Mr. V’s Restaurant Supplies, which he ran until his death…
