The Cobb County Board of Commissioners seemed hesitant on a code amendment that would crack down on homeless encampments by requiring written permission from property owners.
The proposed language, which was pitched by the Cobb Police Department and discussed during this week’s work session alongside a slate of other amendments to the county code, would mandate that people camping on private property must present written proof that they have permission from the property owner to be there upon request by law enforcement.
The amendment would also prohibit camping, storing personal effects and building cooking fires on public property without campers having written permission from the county to present to law enforcement upon request, according to the agenda item…
