ATLANTA, GA — Showers are already well underway Saturday morning across Metro Atlanta and North Georgia. Waves of rain will move through over the next couple of days, with totals topping an inch in most spots. A Level 2 out of 4 flash flood risk is in place Sunday in and around Metro Atlanta and south into Central Georgia. Outdoor plans on Sunday look unlikely as heavy rain continues across the state.
Three-Day Rainfall Totals Reach 3 to 4 Inches Near Macon
The three-day rainfall forecast shows the highest totals across Central Georgia, with Macon expected to pick up 3 to 4 inches. Griffin, Thomaston, Eatonton, and LaGrange are forecast to receive 2 to 3 inches.
Athens is also in the 2 to 3-inch range, while isolated higher totals are possible farther east across parts of Georgia. These heavier amounts could lead to quick water rises in areas with repeated downpours.
Metro Atlanta and North Georgia Expect 1 to 2 Inches
Atlanta is forecast to receive 1 to 2 inches of rain over the next three days. Carrollton, Rome, Canton, and Gainesville fall within the same 1 to 2-inch range.
Farther north, Dalton and Blairsville are also expected to see 1 to 2 inches. While lighter than Central Georgia, these totals are still enough to cause ponding on roads and slick travel conditions.
