Falcons special teams coordinator Marquice Williams reportedly turned down an offer to be the Patriots’ special teams coordinator.
It appears Jerod Mayo’s first move to try to add to his coaching staff didn’t work out.
Falcons special teams coordinator Marquice Williams turned down the Patriots’ offer to be the team’s next special teams coordinator, KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson reported. It turns out Williams is opting to stay with the Falcons, NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero reported Saturday.
Williams was among the initial candidates to interview for the Patriots’ special teams coordinator job. He reportedly interviewed with the team last week after getting permission from the Falcons, who denied a similar request made by the Giants to interview Williams for their special teams coordinator vacancy.
The Falcons got Williams to remain in Atlanta just two after they named Raheem Morris their next head coach. Williams has been in Atlanta since the 2021 season, joining former head coach Arthur Smith in his first season on the job.
