On Friday night, the Dallas Mavericks lit up the scoreboard with 148 points, with a significant chunk coming from Luka Doncic , who notched the fourth-highest individual scoring performance in league history with 73 points.
And while the whole NBA world was in awe of Doncic, Stephen A. Smith called out the Atlanta Hawks’ defensive shortcomings, criticizing them for what he perceived as a lack of effort on that end of the floor.
“The Atlanta Hawks… no wonder why y’all stink ,” Smith said. ” What transpired last night in Atlanta was disgraceful; it made me feel like, you don’t have to play defense, you can just play offense, you don’t have to play defense, that is what the hell took place in Atlanta last night, there is a difference.”
“Don’t tell me anybody wants that; no, you don’t want to change it and go back to old times, but in the same breath, you don’t mean for it to resemble the first three-quarters of the NBA All-Star Game, which is what happened last night in Atlanta. The Hawks – you should be ashamed of your damn self,” Stephen A. added.
