Marietta Man Killed Crossing South Marietta Parkway

A Marietta man was struck and killed crossing South Marietta Parkway at about 10:15 p.m. Saturday, the Marietta Police Department reports.

A 2014 Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound on South Marietta Parkway approaching its intersection with Wylie Road.

William Gould, 57, of Marietta, was walking southbound, crossing South Marietta Parkway at its intersection with Wylie Road, according to the initial on-scene investigation.

“Gould was walking outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by the Nissan Altima. Gould succumbed to his injuries while on scene,” according to Officer Chuck McPhilamy, spokesman for the Marietta Police Department.

McPhilamy said the driver stayed and cooperated.

“No charges anticipated,” he said.
