‘Truth-Telling Museum’ Stone Mountain Park
A ‘truth-telling museum’ has been approved for construction at Stone Mountain Park in Georgia, with the state government granting $11 million. It is believed that the time has come to fairly and fully address the Civil War era. Rather than glorifying the confederation, the museum aims to educate visitors on its complete history and truth.
The fact that the opening date of the “truth-telling museum” in Atlanta at Stone Mountain Park has not been announced does not invalidate, that this is a two-year process. The building of this exhibit includes developing actual content as well as constructing the exhibition. The objective is that people who visit the mountain and monument are offered a broader perspective.
The museum to create this display is Warner Museums, an entity located in Birmingham, Alabama. The proposal includes plans for an outdoor sculpture garden that will feature African American historical figures who fought for equality in social justice. This expo is estimated to look like a Smithsonian-like display.
