SUNDAY’S WEATHER Light to moderate rain on this cold day

Wet, cool and breezy conditions will wrap up the weekend.

Metro Atlanta will experience a drop in temperatures Sunday, though overnight lows won’t feel much cooler than they have been. The morning will start off cloudy with temperatures in the low 40s, and the wind chill will cause temperatures to feel like the mid-30s, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Jennifer Lopez said.

Showers will approach from southwest Georgia around 6 a.m., meaning that metro Atlanta residents will have the ability to enjoy the first few hours of the day outdoors. By around noon, the downpour will have reached the metro-area. Showers will start off light and then strengthen during the mid-afternoon hours, according to the National Weather Service.

“Moderate to light rain coming in periods,” Lopez said, adding that Atlanta will see widely scattered showers by around 4 p.m. and into the evening, Lopez said.

The afternoon high will only reach 48 degrees. The constant breeze of about 15 mph will cause temperatures to feel like they are in the high to mid-30s.
