A Kennesaw man was sentenced to 40 years in prison for fatally shooting 24-year-old Ethan Wackermann following an altercation in March 2022.
Conner Harrison Beck, now 27, entered a negotiated plea in the killing, which happened inside Beck’s residence at the Clarinbridge Apartments on Busbee Parkway near Kennesaw State University on the afternoon of March 9, 2022, according to Cobb District Attorney Flynn Broady Jr.
During an altercation between the two men at Beck’s apartment that day, Wackermann called his cousin, who overheard Beck threatening Wackermann with a gun, Broady said.
Though it sounded over the phone like the two men solved their conflict and returned to talking about business, Beck shot Wackermann six times inside the apartment about 10 minutes after the call, Broady added.
Beck then did not call 911 after the shooting, and it was more than an hour before police were notified, according to Broady.
Cobb County Police responded to the apartment just after 4 p.m. that day in reference to a shooting, and officers located Wackermann deceased inside Beck’s residence with gunshot wounds to his temple, head, neck, chest, abdomen and back.
