Marietta Seeks to Fire Teacher Who ‘Dragged’ Student Out of Classroom

MARIETTA — Marietta Schools Superintendent Grant Rivera has requested approval to fire a Park Street Elementary teacher for unprofessional conduct, including allegedly “dragging” students by their chairs from classrooms and yelling at students and fellow teachers.

Terrance Wilson, a special education teacher at the school, was supposed to face a three-member tribunal Thursday morning in a termination hearing held by the school district.

However, Randall Farmer, the attorney representing Marietta City Schools, said at the scheduled 9:30 a.m. start time for the hearing that Wilson was in the parking lot but would not enter the building. After 25 minutes, the hearing began without him.

Farmer presented evidence to the panel to demonstrate why they should approve of Wilson’s mid-year firing. The panel was composed of three retired school administrators from outside Marietta: Kwame Carr (Douglas and Fulton schools); Sandra DeShazier (Fulton County Schools), and Sherri Anderson (Fulton County Schools).
