Marietta High Honors Six Students Enlisting in Armed Forces

The Marietta College and Career Academy at Marietta High School celebrated six students who committed to serve in the United States armed forces during a ceremony Friday morning, including two students who received prestigious, competitive scholarships.

Military recruiters, school staff, and family members honored the enlistees.

“Our mission is to connect students with opportunities for employment, enrollment, and enlistment upon graduation,” said Rob Garcia III, CEO of the College and Career Academy. “Today proved that these opportunities lead our deserving students to success in their future careers. We celebrate these students who have committed their futures to service to our country.”

Seniors Henry Mendoza, Ebrima Suso, Jordan Hawkins, Esdras Millan Nava and Caila Joseph are planning to enlist in the Marine Corps. Kaleb Crider will enlist in the Air Force.

Nava was awarded the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps scholarship by the Marine Corps, which covers full tuition at a participating college or university. Recipients are expected to complete their degree and subsequently attend the Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia, where they undergo rigorous training to earn their commission as Marine officers.
