The Mall West End to be Transformed Into Mixed-Use Site

The City of Atlanta has announced plans to transform The Mall West End into a 1.7 million-square-foot mixed-use site.

The development would include about 120,000 square feet of retail space, including a grocery store. There would be 893 mixed-income rental units with 70 percent workforce housing, 20 percent affordable at 50 percent AMI, and 10 percent available at 80 percent AMI (for a total of 271 affordable units). The development would also include 152 beds of student-targeted housing.

A 150-key hotel, 12,000 square feet of medical office space and community amenities like a public green space are also envisioned for the development.

“With affordable housing at the forefront, the West End development represents a unique opportunity to revitalize and reinvest in the West End community, creating a more vibrant, connected, and equitable neighborhood,” John Majors , CEO of the Atlanta Urban Development Corporation , said in a news release.

AUD and the City of Atlanta are partnering with New York-based real estate firm BRP Companies on the project.
