Earlier this month, I went to see an incredible play – Pearl Cleage’s “Something Moving: A Meditation on Maynard” – at the Alliance Theater. Amazing!. It’s a beautifully written story that gives a view into the election of Maynard Jackson, Atlanta’s first Black mayor and that of any major city in the South. While listening to the characters, I couldn’t help but think about how old Mayor Jackson was when he decided to be the change he wanted to see and run for office.
