Twins’ late rally falls short in 8-6 loss to Braves

The Minnesota Twins dropped the second of three games against the Atlanta Braves at Target Field Tuesday night, 8-6.

Minnesota’s bats were quiet for the majority of the game as they entered the seventh inning down 4-0.

However, the Twins combined to score four runs in the seventh and eighth innings off Atlanta’s bullpen to tie the game but failed to hold the lead in the top of the 10th inning, as Jhoan Duran surrendered three runs (including the automatic baserunner, tallying a total of four) while only retiring one batter in the frame.

The loss gives the Twins a 72-60 record, as they remain in the third spot for the American League Wild Card race. As of writing, the Kansas City Royals are 1.5 games ahead of Minnesota and the Baltimore Orioles have the top wild card spot by 3.5 games.

The Cleveland Guardians hold a one-game lead over the Royals and a three-game lead over the Twins in the AL Central Division. The Guardians and Royals faced each other Tuesday but the game was ongoing as of writing.
