A 17-year-old was arrested after bringing a gun to Osborne High School and assaulting a man outside a Smyrna smoke shop earlier this month.
Keylan Johnson of Marietta was charged with carrying a weapon within a school safety zone after allegedly bringing a Glock handgun into Osborne High School on Friday, Nov. 1.
According to his arrest warrant, Johnson posted a video of himself to social media, brandishing the gun while in the high school’s locker room. A parent shared the video with the principal a few days later, the warrant said.
After viewing the video from social media, Osborne Resource Officer James Bryant was able to follow Johnson on the school’s surveillance video wearing the same clothes in the social media video, Cobb police said.
Around 10:07 a.m., the resource officer was able to see Johnson carrying the handgun inside of the front pocket of his hooded sweatshirt, before removing the gun and placing it in the front crotch area of his pants, the warrant said.
Later that afternoon, between 2:30 to 3:51 p.m., Johnson allegedly broke into a woman’s black Volvo at a body shop at 2300 Atlanta Road in Smyrna, according to a second warrant.
