52-year-old man dead after Thanksgiving shooting, Atlanta police say

A 52-year-old man died after being shot in southwest Atlanta early Thursday, police said.

Officers responded around 3 a.m. to a report of a person shot at 1162 Booker Ave. SW, the Atlanta Police Department said.

“Responding medical personnel pronounced the victim deceased on the scene,” the department said in a statement.

Homicide investigators are determining the circumstances surrounding the incident, the department said.

Kennesaw police officers are separately investigating the death of a person found with apparent gunshot wounds shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday. A spokesperson for the Kennesaw Police Department said officers were dispatched to the area of Moon Station Road in regard to a person lying on the roadway.
