Man Arrested for Allegedly Firing Gun During Road Rage Incident in Atlanta

An incident spiraling out of a road rage event led to an aggravated assault on Wednesday, with one man under arrest according to local authorities. The altercation occurred near the intersection of 6000 South Terminal Parkway NW, where I-75/I-85 North merge, according to APD’s news release.

The confrontation escalated after a seemingly minor traffic dispute, a “sideswipe” as the victim described, burst into violence when 39-year-old Eric Freeman allegedly discharged a firearm at the other driver. The victim, who was dropping a client off at the airport’s south terminal, managed to escape with minor injuries, his vehicle, however, sustained damage from both the collision and the gunfire. The Atlanta Police Department reported the suspect fled the scene following the incident, but not before firing shots into the chaos of rush-hour traffic.

Freeman’s freedom was short-lived; through the diligent work of the Auto Crimes Enforcement Unit, he was located at 4210 Moreland Avenue SE, and arrested two days later on Wednesday.
