Dunwoody Police Crack Down on Reckless Driving After 109 MPH Super Speeder Arrest on I-285

In a string of high-speed and reckless driving incidents around Dunwoody, local authorities are cracking down on traffic violations as public safety concerns escalate. As reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, one incident involved a driver clocked at a dangerous 109 miles per hour on Interstate 285, well above the 65-mph limit, on New Year’s Eve. The unnamed driver was arrested by Dunwoody Police and is facing serious charges for speeding and reckless driving. The incident happened around 9 a.m., during a busy time for commuters and late risers.

Less than two weeks prior to this event, another dangerous situation unfolded on the same highway. According to Appen Media, a 27-year-old Atlanta man was nabbed by Dunwoody Police after a hit-and-run crash. The BMW-driving suspect had his car stall a mile from the scene along I-285 eastbound, subsequently leading to his arrest. The driver’s already-suspended license and an active arrest warrant for failing to appear for traffic offenses only compounded his legal woes.

The collision, involving three other vehicle occupants who fortunately escaped unharmed, was the result of the suspect reportedly falling asleep at the wheel behind an 18-wheeler. In an attempt to avert disaster, the driver claimed he swerved into the other vehicle, inevitably pushing them towards the median.
