ATLANTA, Ga. (WSAV) – Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter was brought to the Georgia State Capital in Atlanta on Saturday afternoon, the first day of his state funeral.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens lead a moment of silence during the service. Other dignitaries were also present, including former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue.
“For all Georgian’s we’re proud that a Georgian became president of the United States, and I think, again in his years after the presidency, continued to minister to people around the world in so many ways,” said Perdue. “So, we are grateful, we’re proud of his legacy and very appreciative that he began right here in Middle Georgia and South Georgia.”…
