A second chance of snow? A winter storm may impact the south late next week.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Following a week of cold weather, a new storm system will bring a risk of wintry weather to portions of the South later next week.

Ahead of the late-week storm system, a period of rain, wind and cold will impact north Georgia on Sunday and Monday.

Friday and Saturday are First Alert Weather Days. There is quite a bit of uncertainty because those are far away. With cold air in place and an approaching storm system, cold rain is likely Friday into Saturday. However, there is a potential for freezing rain, sleet or snow across portions of north Georgia as we head into next weekend.

The First Alert Weather Team will be monitoring new data coming in as well, taking a close look at the unusual weather pattern that is developing. Forecast confidence will start to increase by Tuesday or Wednesday. We’ll have a much clearer idea of local impacts by Thursday…
