ATLANTA A previously convicted felon will spend years in federal prison in connection with a shooting at an Atlanta motel.

In August 2024, 39-year-old Atlanta resident Marcus Thomas pleaded guilty in federal court to possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.

Officials say the charges stem from an incident on July 1, 2022. On that day, officers with the Atlanta Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at the Travel Inn on Forest Hill Drive.
