Invasive non-native plant species pose a threat to Georgia’s rich biodiversity. And as part of National Invasive Species Awareness Week (NISAW) 2025 from February 24-28, Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources is taking an active role in educating the state’s residents about the dangers caused by non-native and invasive species.
According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the Peach State is the sixth most biodiverse state in the United States. Existing along with all these native species, however, are many nonnative species that have been introduced into the state.
