TAMPA, Florida — Coretta Rena Bates, a 32-year-old from College Park, Georgia, has been sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for aggravated identity theft. Bates is also ordered to pay $167,117.50 in restitution to the victim credit union, according to a press release from the U.S. District Court.
Bates pleaded guilty on December 11, 2024, to charges stemming from a scheme where she used counterfeit North Carolina driver licenses with her photograph and victims’ identifying information to open lines of credit and withdraw cash advances from April through July 2023.
