Power outage affects thousands in Midtown, downtown Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – More than 3,000 people were without power in the heart of Atlanta on Friday morning.

At its height, the outage spanned from Marietta Street in downtown Atlanta to 7th Street in Midtown, which includes Grady Memorial Hospital.

As of 10 a.m., about 470 customers still don’t have electricity in downtown Atlanta.

Georgia Power said the outage was caused by an internal equipment issue…
