William “Cadillac Jack” Choate, who spent more than 25 years with WKHX Atlanta (101.5), has died of a heart attack, according to his ex-wife, Donna Choate. Donna posted to Facebook on Monday afternoon, noting that Cadillac had passed away “after a long and difficult struggle with mental health and addiction.”
“He battled demons we couldn’t always understand, and while things weren’t how any of us wished they could be, I know there was love somewhere beneath the pain,” she wrote. “I hope and pray he has found the peace he was searching for all this time.”
Cadillac began working for WKHX, then owned by Capital Cities Communications, in the mid-1990s and hosted mornings at the station from 2006 to 2019. When current owner Cumulus Media abruptly dismissed him in 2019, he sued the company twice, alleging discrimination and breach of contract. The two parties settled their legal dispute in August 2024…
